Our history

The idea behind CtrlPrint was hatched at an advertising agency in Stockholm in the late 1990s. Producing a designed annual report for a newly listed client proved unexpectedly challenging, as neither the client nor the agency had prior experience with this type of publication or its differences from standard marketing materials.

Creating the first collaboration platform

The original web development team began exploring how web technologies could improve existing workflows. Since the release of InDesign in 1999, most related innovations have centred around the tool and its companion text editor, InCopy.

In 2001, the company CtrlPrint was formally created. In those days, it was a small company with only 4 employees and 20 clients.

Going global

CtrlPrint has expanded gradually from its roots in Sweden and, since 2005, in the UK (with a limited company established in 2010), later opening in Helsinki in 2019 and Sydney in 2023. Entering a new market just before the pandemic tested the company’s patience and confidence in its offering.

Today we have more than 1,000 clients worldwide, and we continue to expand and work globally.
