ESEF Highlights 2025: Streamline Your ESEF Tagging with These New CtrlPrint Features

• Tag Review: In December 2024 we introduced the Tag Review, which is a tool that will help ESEF users in verifying the content of text block and string tags. This is particularly useful in verifying that tables have been semantically parsed. Find out more : Tag Review
• Preflight: Preflight provides helpful feedback and actionable guidance to InDesign users to create an ESEF compatible document. This feature was introduced in October 2024 and is aimed at InDesign users, however, ultimately beneficial when converting the document to XHTML. Utilising this tool will reduce conversion errors caused by frame order, alternate glyph usage, overlapping text frames and more. Find out more: CtrlPrint Preflight
• File Extensions and Report Versioning in File names: In accordance with the ESEF 2024 Reporting Manual, it is now possible to include the version number of your report submission with the file name. This helps to ensure accurate identification and tracking of your reports submitted to the authorities. In addition, you can now select the report package extension within the ESEF settings. The available options are .zip (as before and now also .xbri which is the ESMA recommended report package format). • Toolbox: Introduced in September 2024, the Toolbox streamlines your tagging process. You can use this tool to quickly find and replace dates within tag properties or set the escape attribute to true or false for all text tags in a chapter simultaneously.Find out more here: Rolling Forward Textblock Tags or here: How to Parse Tables Semantically in Textblock Tagging
• XBRL Report Comparer: This feature allows you to compare two ESEF reports (in either .zip or .xbri format). The tool will generate a summary of any differences between the two files, including discrepancies in filenames, and this summary can then be exported to Excel for further analysis. Find out more here: XBRL Report Comparer
• Compare Roll Forwarded text mappings with external file:You can compare textblock tags in your chapter with a previous version to identify any changes between them. This will help you with the click of a button identify any changes in the tagged content and display the findings in a separate window. Find out more here: How to Compare Textblock Tags in Your Report With a Previous Version
